Nutrition for gastritis: what can and cannot be eaten?

Gastritis is one of the most common illnesses today. Frequent snacks and quick meals, a wide variety of fast food, bad food poisoning - all these can cause gastritis. This is probably why so many people now suffer from stomach problems. But how to deal with them?

For this, it is not necessary to take medication constantly, the main thing in the treatment is the correct and well-chosen diet, which does not cause mucosal irritation and exacerbation of the disease, but at the same time will saturate the body with all the necessary macronutrients and vitamins.

Basic rules

The main task of the diet for gastritis is to adhere to a diet that ensures normal digestion. The gastritis treatment table (per day) must contain:

  • 90-100 gr. squirrel (and 60% animals),
  • 50-80 gr. fat (75% animals)
  • 300-320 gr. carbohydrates.

Nutrition rules for gastritis:

  • Measure knowledge. With gastritis, the saying "after a meal there should remain a feeling of slight hunger" is more relevant than ever. Firstly, the feeling of fullness only occurs 10-15 minutes after eating and secondly, an overflowing stomach does not respond well to its functions, especially in gastritis.
  • Diet. First, you must follow your food intake (at the same time). Second, in gastritis, food must be divided, 4-5 times a day, but at the same time it is necessary to refuse snacks (they cause "excess" gastric juice secretion and reduce its production during breakfast / lunch / dinner, which violates food processing and assimilation processes). You should categorically exclude reading while eating, watching TV, and "running anywhere".
  • Rest after eating. After each meal, you need to rest for 15-20 minutes (no sleep required). You can read a book or listen to music.
  • Chew food. Prolonged chewing of food (at least 25-30 seconds for each piece) contributes to a more complete mechanical processing of food, which facilitates the work of a sick stomach.     In this form of gastritis, it is recommended to use a diet aimed at thermal and mechanical preservation of the stomach, as well as at reducing gastric secretion.

    • milk, especially with tea, all kinds of fermented dairy products, including yoghurt and yoghurt, fresh crushed cheese;

    • steamed omelets, bagged eggs, vegetable dishes in the form of mashed potatoes, puddings, souffles, weak tea, sweet fruits and strawberries in jam, creams and jams;

    • oily and salty fish;
    • vegetables and fruits with coarse fibers (white cabbage, turnips, radishes, cucumbers, peppers), mushrooms;
    • fatty meats, meats with fascia (films), canned foods, smoked meats (inadequate mechanical processing of food, excessive release of hydrochloric acid);
    • spicy and salty varieties of cheese, milk - neutralizes hydrochloric acid;
    • berries with grains or thick skin (raspberries, strawberries, currants, currants, figs);
    • spices and herbs (irritate the stomach lining) as well as chocolate, grape juice, alcohol;
    • lard and fat from pork, beef, lamb (unabsorbed due to low production of hydrochloric acid, products that are difficult to digest).

    Feeding should be carried out after the onset of hydrochloric acid secretion, that is, in the first phase (advertisements or programs about eating, beautiful pictures of food, "tasty" conversations can cause the release of gastric juice).

    Diet for acute gastritis

    Special attention should be given to the diet for acute gastritis. The requirements for the products are the same as for all types of this condition, but more stringent.

    In the acute form of the disease, it is recommended:

    • low-fat cottage cheese;
    • yesterday's white bread and no pastries or muffins;
    • only lean meat, cooked and mashed or minced;
    • soups exclusively in vegetable broths;
    • non-acidic jellies and jams;
    • boiled eggs or in the form of a steamed omelet;
    • vegetable purees from the baby food variety, it's also good to borrow fish and meat purees from a baby jar;
    • sugar-free teas or infusions.

    During the menu's immediate flare period, they are completely deleted:

    • products with preservatives, flavor enhancers, artificial colors;
    • raw fruits and vegetables;
    • milk and any dairy dishes;
    • all kinds of pastry, except yesterday's bread;
    • margarine, cooking oil and butter;
    • barley;
    • all kinds of beans and beans.

    Furthermore, all general restrictions on the products themselves and the methods of their preparation remain in effect. Usually, the attack passes in 3-4 days, so the diet becomes more varied, in line with general recommendations for patients with gastritis.

  • Watermelon is something you can eat with gastritis, but very little. With any acidity, you can only eat 1-2 slices.
  • Melon is almost the hardest vegetable product, not only for the stomach, but also for the pancreas and gallbladder. Even the digestive tract of an absolutely healthy person has a hard time dealing with melon, so anyone who suffers from gastritis should abandon such a dubious product.
  • Chocolate - it is better to give up this product entirely.
  • Nuts, Seeds, Vegetables - No nut types should be used for gastritis, the same applies to seeds and vegetables.
  • Honey can be used because it has healing properties and is considered a fortified and useful product. However, everything is fine in moderation, especially since many people can be allergic to bee products.

    In mild cases, with superficial gastritis, it can be completely cured if you lead a healthy lifestyle and observe the following strict rules, which in practice turns out to be a very difficult task:

  • Meals should be 5 to 6 times a day, at certain times, the last meal should be at least 2 hours before bedtime.
  • Constant adherence to a diet, no dry food, fast food.
  • Avoid smoking and drinking.
  • Eliminate any excess food and long meal breaks.
  • Lack of excessive physical effort, constantly monitor the state of the body, do not work too hard, do not force too much, sleep at least 8 hours a day at night and preferably 1 hour during the day.
